Most small-business sites around here were built once, years ago, by somebody who's gone. The hours are wrong, the phone number is buried, and it doesn't work on a phone. I rebuild the homepage so the three things a customer actually wants — are you open, where are you, what's the number — are on the first screen, and the whole thing works with a thumb.

How much does a small business website cost in Maine?

From Bridgton, Maine I build phone-first sites for small shops. You can see a free preview of your own homepage before you spend a dollar — your web address in, a working page out.

Standard is $1,000 (half down $500). Commerce — order or book on the site — is $1,500 (half down $750). Half when it’s finished. Domain and hosting stay in your name.

Most sites go up within a week of the deposit clearing, once I have your photos and text. Optional Webmaster is $50/mo Standard or $90/mo Commerce if you want ongoing small edits.

What does it cost?

Standard is $1,000. A homepage that works on the phone — your hours, your photos, your number.

Commerce is $1,500. That, plus your customers can order or book on the site.

Say go, half down, and it goes live; the other half when you're happy with it. Two revisions either way. Anything past that — online ordering, booking, gift cards, galleries, a second location — is on the add-ons list, priced straight.

Who owns the site?

You do. The domain and the hosting stay in your name, on your card. You get the files. If you ever want to take it somewhere else, you can, and nothing breaks.

I never need your passwords. For anything.

Do I need a monthly plan?

No. There's nothing in the site that goes out of date on its own — no software to patch, nothing that rots. When you want something changed, call me. Optional Webmaster is there if you want me on call — $50/mo Standard, $90/mo Commerce. That covers 60 minutes of small changes a month (phone or text), a monthly health peek, one seasonal swap a year, same-business-day response if the site is down when I'm working, a monthly form/booking smoke test, and a dated backup you can restore. Quit any month.

What do you need from me?

Photos of your place, the words you want on it, your real hours, and whoever holds the login for your web address. That's it. I'll tell you exactly what to send after you book.

Can I just buy the files?

Yes. Every look on the site is for sale as files you can open and swap yourself — $79 to $149 depending on the page. You do the swapping. Want it built around your business instead? That's Book.

Do you do the whole site, or just the homepage?

The homepage is the job, because the homepage is where the phone call comes from. If you need more pages — a menu, a rate sheet, a second location — say so and I'll price it straight.
